Power Yoga Series

Power Yoga incorporates slow vinyasa while holding postures for a longer period of time to develop proper alignment while increasing strength. This series is open to beginners and modifications will be provided to celebrate everyone in their practice. Participants must be able to get up and down off of the floor as well as able to put pressure on their hands and knees.

Price includes the entire series. There is no class on October 26 or November 30.

Students are required to bring a small hand towel to wipe off any supplies provided by the park.

For more information about the series, please contact us.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do I wear to yoga class?
Whatever you are most comfortable moving around in that allows movement and stretching in the body. We will be folding forward and stretching our legs so please wear appropriate undergarments.

What should I bring with me?
We require students to have their own mat, we also recommend a yoga strap Mexican Blanket if there are any knee issues. If you do not have these items, you can purchase them on your own or you can purchase them through us as you register. Many students also like to bring a water bottle and a towel.

I have never done yoga before and I’m a senior– is that okay?
Sure. However, this class does require participants to get up and down off the floor and place their knees on the floor. If this is a challenge, specifically for knee issues such as replacements, we recommend coming to chair yoga which is a great class.

I can’t make a few classes, can I get a cheaper price?
Unfortunately, because we already have such affordable yoga classes we cannot accommodate for missed classes for any reason including medical reasons, vacations, or late enrollment. Our pricing is for the quarter regardless of how many classes are attended or when someone registers.

Can I try a class before I register?
Most of our classes have a tendency to fill up quickly. You are welcome to try the class one time for a $10 fee if space is available. The $10 will be applied to the series should you register. However, please contact us in advance as we may not have the capacity to take additional people in the class even to try out as space is limited.

I can’t make the times for the Power Yoga Series. Do you offer it another time or location?
All of our times and additional offerings are listed on our website. However, when we go onto a waitlist we may open another series. It’s helpful when people tell us what parks and times they are interested in. We recommend contacting us to let us know and then join our mailing list to find out when new classes are offered.

How are the classes so cheap?
Our founder, Melissa Leger, has owned several yoga studios and felt that it was a challenge to bring yoga to the masses while struggling to pay overhead expenses. We work with the Chicago Park District and other venues to help overcome those obstacles to make classes affordable. It may mean that perhaps the floors or walls aren’t as beautiful as other environments but the quality of instruction is not affected.

Is yoga religious?
While some instructors out there may bring their own “stuff” or beliefs into yoga, we teach in a secular format. Our primary focus is moving the body, stress reduction, and creating a community with our neighbors.

Refund and Cancellation Policy

The pricing is for the entire class series and not per class. We will make best efforts to make up classes that are canceled due to inclement weather, instructor sickness, or personal emergency. However, please be aware sometimes we are unable to schedule a makeup session due to meeting place requirements.

Please be advised we do not offer any refunds, exchanges, prorating, or transfers for any reason including medical reasons.  To make quality yoga classes available, we are unable to accommodate personal circumstances.
