This yoga and mindfulness series focuses on stress management for both the mind and body. From a physical perspective, this class targets the stress on the body from today’s modern lifestyle. This series focuses on stretching the hips, lower back, hamstring, shoulders, and neck. It also incorporates meditation techniques that will vary from class to class but will include breathing and mindfulness practices taught in a secular format. The format of the class will vary a bit from class to class but students should expect intense stretching sometimes holding stretching postures for minutes at a time. No prior experience is required and beginners are welcomed and encouraged to attend. Participants will need to be able to place pressure on their hands and knees as well as getting up and down off the floor comfortably.


There is no class on 10/26 and 11/30.

Is the pricing for one class or the whole series?


The pricing is for the whole series. We have made our series super affordable. The price remains the same for late registration or missed classes but is often still drastically lower than other classes in the area.


What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?


There paid street parking and free parking along the side streets. Sheil Park is located two blocks from the South Port Brown Line stop. 


What can should I bring?


We encourage everyone to bring yoga mat a small hand towel to wipe down their supplies.

We do not offer refunds for any reason, including medical, personal, moving, or financial. Thank you for your consideration in supporting your local small business.


Is my registration fee or ticket transferrable?


Once a series has started, classes are not transferable. 


 

About the author:

Melissa Leger is a YAECP continuing education instructor and an experienced yoga instructor. She has completed training programs through Mindful Yoga Academy, Yandara, Yoga Institute, Mindful Academy International, Connection Coalition, Sunlight Chair Yoga, Kidding Around Yoga, and Blooma. She actively takes trainings to ensure she is constantly improving her own practice. Her main focus is teaching mindful yoga to provides students tools to deal with stress in their lives. She frequently brings in other techniques such as MBSR to help students find freedom in their practice. To help facilitate this, her classes are adapted to individuals of different ages, body types, and physical conditions. All of her trainings incorporate modifications so instructors feel confident teaching to a room full of different abilities. She currently teaches teacher trainings in Florida and Chicago, leads international retreats, and volunteers in prisons.
