Module 2: Accessible & Adaptive Yoga Instruction

APPLY NOW

Module 2 of our Yoga Teacher Training Certification focuses on the knowledge and skills required to prepare, plan, and sequence a yoga class for people with varying degree of ability. Included in this training includes in-depth asana practice and instruction, teaching methodology, anatomy, business of yoga, and goal setting techniques. There are approximately 120 hours of in-person instruction and personal study.

This training is ideal for:

  • Our Module 1 students who are interested in receiving the 200 Hour Yoga Alliance RYT designation.
  • Current YTT graduates or yoga teachers who felt they were not prepared to teach upon graduation. This program will help learn yoga sequencing and teaching to different abilities.
  • Current fitness instructors or personal trainers who have a background in teaching and want to incorporate yoga into their services.
  • Recreational therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, mental health service providers, physical therapists, or other complementary modalities who may already be teaching yoga classes but need additional support for their level of instruction.

To receive the Yoga Alliance 200 Hour RYT designation, students must complete both Modules 1 and 2 with us. Students who register for both at the same time will receive a substantial discount. If it fits a students financial and time requirements and they wish to teach as soon as possible, we do recommend taking both programs at the same time.

We do not accept transfers for the 200 Hour Yoga Alliance designation. However, any of our modules count towards Yoga Alliance Continuing Education hours for Yoga Alliance designated instructors. Please let us know upon registration that you will need the YACE credits.

What Can I Expect?

Students can expect a mix of lecture, practice, and experiential learning. This module contains a heavy amount of supervised self-guided work, practice, and feedback so participants feel confident to teach. Participants are exposed to a wide array of yoga practices to make yoga accessible such as restorative yoga, yin yoga, gentle yoga, mindful yoga, prenatal yoga, chair yoga, hatha yoga, with a limited amount of vinyasa or power yoga. We focus on alignment of the postures based on different body and energy types. With a heavy focus on mindfulness and stress reduction, students will be exposed to complementary techniques to bring into their classes and own personal practice such as essential oils, singing bowls, yoga nidra, and mindfulness.

Before receiving their final certificate, students will need to teach 6 karma classes in their community. We recommend doing this during the training but it may be completed up to 6 months after the course. Students will need to submit sequences, record classes, and be prepared for constructive feedback. This module also includes an online portion for Yoga Anatomy by David Keil. There are several assignments and reading to complete at home and quizzes during the training. We want our graduates to feel supported and feel comfortable teaching.
